Intercol – Chess and Debating

Congratulations to all senior chess players and debaters involved in this week’s Intercol competition, based here at CBC.

The chess team came back from 0-2 down to take the trophy 3-2. This is the first Intercol victory since our resident chess supremo Mr Sebastian Stenchlik won as chess captain in Year 12. Congratulations to Alexander Horlin-Smith, Jas Stewart, Sze-Yong Koh-Buckland, Mohamed Zaghwan and Maher Kenaan on their triumph.

Our Senior Debating team – Will Burke, Angus Costello and Elias Cleland, ably assisted by Chairman Zack Zerella, prepared a brilliant case and spoke spectacularly. Ultimately, and unfortunately, they were unsuccessful, but the nearly packed out wave of purple in Walsh were all justifiably proud of them.
