Year 4 Instrumental Immersion

In Week 10, our Year 4 students received the instruments that they will be learning throughout the year.

You may have seen images of our fantastic purple and white trumpets on Instagram and Facebook – these will be played alongside trombones, clarinets and percussion by the members of 4 Purple.

In very exciting news, some of the students in 4 White are playing string instruments for the first time in our immersion program. We have four cellists and eight violinists, who are being joined by flutes and percussion.

Many thanks to the Friends of Music who raised money throughout last year to go towards the purchase of many of these instruments.

Vocal Project

Many thanks to the students of Vocal Project who led the singing in Monday’s Whole College Easter Mass. Using music to serve is an important aspect of what we do, and the way in which the boys sang and behaved was fantastic.

Debating

Term 3 means Competition Time!

There are 5 rounds in the SADA competition, with debates held as indicated below:

• Year 6 Team (Junior B) on Tuesdays at Prince Alfred College – 5pm for a 5:30 debate
• Year 7 Team (Intermediate B) on Tuesdays at Prince Alfred College – 7pm for a 7:30 debate
• Year 8/9 Team (Intermediate A) on Thursdays at Glenunga International High School – times TBA
• Year 10 Team (Senior B) on Wednesdays at St Peter’s College – times TBA

Chess

Term 3 means Competition Time!

Year 6 players will have the opportunity to compete as a Primary C team this year on the following dates:

• Primary – played at PAC with matches at 4pm on Thursdays – 7 afternoons
• Thursday Dates:  – Term 2: 8, 22 May; 5, 19 June; Term 3: 31 July; 14, 28 Aug

Senior Campus students will form Division 2 and 3 teams (TBA early in the term) to compete on these dates:

These Divisions alternate Friday nights and commence at the Chess Centre at 7pm:

• Div 3 Dates: Term 2: 9, 21 May; 6, 20 June; Term 3: 15, 29 Aug
• Div 2 Dates: Term 2: 16, 30 May; 13, 27 June; Term 3: 8, 22 Aug; 5 Sept

Drama Club

With one round of auditions to be completed on Friday, our actors will have their roles by the holidays, so that they can familiarise themselves with the play and script.

Thanks to Mr Carr and Mr Potito for their dedication to this process, in evidence as they acted alongside the students in auditions!
